En la malproksimo preter nia vilaĝo la rivero fluis malhaste okcidenten.Ĝian tutan amplekson ni ne povis vidi pro la arboj sur la taluso.Sed la akvon ni ja povis vidi.La tutan tempon ĝi brilis en la sunlumo.Kiam venteto ĝian supraĵon krispigis,la ondetoj kutimis ekbrili kiel steloj al ni ridetantaj kaj palpebrumantaj tra la truetoj inter verdaj folioj.Ĝuste tiam,samkiel en multaj aliaj tagoj,mi forlasis la vilaĝon kaj marŝis laŭ la ŝoseo deklivanta malabrupte ĝis la rivero,por rigardi nian bovinon.Supren de la bordo etendiĝis larĝa strio paŝteja.Ĉiuj niaj plugbovinoj kaj bovidoj kaj bovoj troviĝis tie,kapobatante unu alian aŭ petolante hundide.

在我们村子外面的远方，那条河老是不慌不忙地向西流去。由于河岸上长满了树，我们总是无法看清它的完整形态。不过它的流水我们是可以瞧得见的，因为它在太阳中射出反光，吸住人们视线。当微风吹绉它的水面的时候，它的微波就在太阳光中闪耀，象笑盈盈的一颗颗星星，通过那碧绿的树叶空隙向我们挤眼。就在这种时刻，正如在其他的日子里一样，我走出村子，沿着那斜斜地伸向河床的大路，去看我们正在放牧的母牛。有一大片草地从河岸向前展开。我们的耕牛--公的、母的和它们的儿女--就在那里吃草、相互顶角或嬉戏，象一群小狗那样活泼。

In the distance beyond our village the river flowed gently to the west.We could not see its whole extent because of the trees on the embankment.But we could see the water.It shone all the time in the sun.When a breeze ruffled its surface,the wavelets would glimmer like stars smiling and winking at us through the gaps between green leaves.It was at this time,as on many other days,that I went out of the village and walked down the highway which sloped gently to the river,to have a look at our cow.A large strip of green pasture stretched up from the bank.All our ploughing cows and calves and oxen were there,grazing,butting each other or frolicking like pups.
