Tiam la multaj terkulturistoj,aspektantaj formike en la valo,elmoviĝis de siaj kampoj kaj enviciĝis sur la riverborda vojeto,kiu servis ankaŭ ŝoseo etendiĝanta apud la akvofluo ĝis,unudirekte,la malproksima horizonto kaj,alidirekte,la densa arbaro.La kamparanoj,apogante ŝultre sarkilojn kaj fosilojn,marŝis per malhastaj paŝoj al la arbamaso.Malaperis en ĝin la unua,poste la dua,poste la tria...kaj fine la lasta.Ili moviĝis kvazaŭ longa serpento,kiu volviĝas en arbaron sen ia postsigno,aŭ kvazaŭ strio de vespera fumo,kiu malaperas tuj,kiam ĝi ektuŝas la malhelan foliaron de l' antikvaj plantaĵoj.

于是许多那些在山冲里看上去象一群蚂蚁的庄稼人开始从田里走上来，形成一个长长的行列。他们在河边的大路上走--这条路，沿着河流，一端伸向遥远的天际，另一端则钻进一个浓郁的树林。他们肩上扛着锄头或铁锹，拖着倦怠的步子，慢悠悠地钻进那一堆茂密的树丛。第一个钻进去了，接着便是第二个、第三个。。。。。。直到最后一人。他们蜿蜒地进入那树林，没有在后面留下任何痕迹。他们象一条长蛇，或者象一缕暮烟--它一接触到那古老树木的浓密叶子，就无形地消散了。

Then the many farmhands,who looked like ants in the valley,moved up from their fields and formed a line on the path on the river bank,which also served as a highway, extending along the stream into the distant horizon in one direction,and to thick woods in the other.The peasants walked with leisurely steps,with hoes and spades on their shoulders,towards the dense cluster of trees.The first disappeared into them,then a second,then a third...and finally the last.They moved like a long snake that wriggles into a forest leaving no trace behind,or like a streak of evening smoke that vanishes the moment it touches the dark foliage of the ancient plants.
