Apud la herbejo etendiĝis sabla strando,larĝa proksimume kvaronmejlon.En la sunlumo la sablo ekbrilis kiel oraj greneroj.Transe troviĝis la rivereto,ĉiam trankvila kaj travidebla.Al mi plaĉis ĝin agiti per miaj nudaj piedoj,kaj hodiaŭ mi iris por tion fari refoje.La subtila sablo sur la fundo kirliĝis supren kvazaŭ fumspiralo ,kiam mi svingis unu el miaj piedoj,nebuligante la klaran akvon.Kaj murmuris la akvo,unue laŭte kaj poste mallaŭte.Sed la gracia fluado baldaŭ rulpremis la sablon kaj klarigis la ŝaŭman flakon.Poste kvietiĝis denove kiam mi elpaŝis el la akvo,kaj la sekiĝantaj sableroj ridetis pro la sunlumo.Kaj stultigite mi restis staranta apud la rivereto.Fino mankis al ĝi.Tiel longa akvofluado!

在草地的外边有一片长长的沙滩，它将近有一里路宽。沙粒在太阳光中发出闪光，很象沙金。沙滩的外边就是河流。河水永远是那么安静和透明。我有时喜欢打着赤脚去搅乱它几下。这天就是如此，我走到它旁边去，把脚伸进水里，把它搅混，于是沙子便从河底盘旋地往上浮，象一柱旋转的烟。河水开始发起牢骚来，声音最初很高，过了好一会儿才逐渐低下来。可是那悠闲的水流立刻就把沙子卷走，那翻着泡沫的旋涡也很快地变得平静下来。在我步出流水以后，一切便又变得静寂了。粘在我脚上的沙粒，面对着太阳发出微笑。我站在水边远眺，发起呆来。长长的流水啊，它没有尽头！

Alongside the grassland ran a sandy beach,about a quarter of a mile wide.The sand glittered in the sun like golden grains.Then there was the stream,forever transparent and peaceful .I liked to stir it up with my bare feet,and today I went to do it again.The fine sand at the bottom whirled upwards like a spiral of smoke,as I swung one of my feet,obscuring the clear water.And the water murmured,at first high and then low.But the graceful current soon rolled down the sand and clarified the frothing pool.Then it was quiet again as I stepped out of the water,and the drying sand on my feet smiled with the sun.And I remained standing by the stream stupefied.It had no end.Such a long stream of water!
